The club staff is interested in beginning a BAP program for those interested in participating in such an endeavor.

I have read many of your comments this evening and will comment in some of the other threads later.
[Sorry for the delay in posting this poll, as I have been out of town and off the grid for a while]

It has been discussed that some other programs be initiated as well to include members who do not want to be a part of the BAP.

Examples could include;
A planted tank competition or a single plant competition, a fry swap contest to see the different methods of growth in a specific time frame and via different individuals, & of course we still want to continue the POM contest among us.
The C.A.R.E.S. program is a possibility as well.
In addition, the suggestions to assist a school or nursing home with a tank set-up/maintenance has been thrown around as a possibility.

If you have other suggestions or ideas, they can be considered as well. Feel free to make those suggestions within this thread.

It is pleasing to know we have members who want to become more active in our club, and we will need to form some committees to head up these programs, as we decide which ones we will be actively pursuing.

All that remains is for us to vote in these polls of the programs we desire to pursue and implement, then at the next board meeting the vote can be taken for which to pursue. Then a call for a final vote from the club members, in good standing, and implementation of the policies specific to a given program.

The voter response and posts of comment/discussion in this thread are not promising folks. If you all want to move this club forward we need to have programs that we participate in, and programs that involve not only us, but outsiders that would like to come in and join us. It does not have to be the BAPS program. This thread offers you the opportunity to express interest in other programs, and I mentioned a few in the first post I placed under the poll. Please review the ideas above.

Do you all want to leave us as status quo and just have our swap/meets and a site to discuss problems when they arise, or do you want to implement some programs to be active and a part of ?

This is y'all's club, and we officers are only offering ideas of things you all can be involved in.
Let's hear some comments/ideas.

We need y'all to be the involved and active ones, and to split up into committees to serve and participate.
If not BAPS, then what ?

Your officers will be happy to meet, vote, and implement programs you want to participate in, so y'all tell us what to bring to the voting table @ the Aug. business meeting.

This is just an example of people wanting more stuff but dont want to participate. During the discussion about BAP we had several people saying they want this and that and so far 1 person wants it now and 4 may do it later

We have enough to get baps going, but others are welcomed to help. We will need input on exactly how we want it set up.

As for other ideas, if you have a good one and you want to see it happen, make it happen. A good idea is only good if it happens. Find the board that best fits idea and go with it. I will try to have a couple of open houses a year above and beyond swap to cook out, talk fish, and plan for future events.

I would say 99% of committee planning can be done online in a few minutes a week. Also, if you don't like the job the board is doing, feel free to run for a position. I highly doubt any serving member would be offended and would probably let you have it.

Jon, I'd be honored to help in any way possible on BAP. I am confident in the person that has begun to take the lead on this program and will help him and/or the committee set up the groundwork, encourage participation and build momentum.
My personal hopes for the MCAA to grow and for it to be more rewarding for participatory members and things I believe will facilitate that are: a good BAP program, C.A.R.E.S. affiliation, more frequent events such as the swap, meetings, auction etc. Setting a goal for an annual show is lofty and daunting but IT CAN BE DONE!
Life is not about spectating. I feel that involved people are much happier than couch potatoes and know that errors DO happen, people DO make mistakes, nothing is ever perfect and a supportive group can laugh about it, help one another, feel good about when it is over, learn from mistakes and make it bigger and better!
