rinse, cut, stab to weight it, feed. simple as that. they eat it raw. they love the peeling too ! i think it is their favorite part.

I washed and cut one in a strip the other day and fed. The one pleco in the tank was dead the next day, so I was curious about boiling, etc. to ensure getting any pesticides off. How long do you leave it in the tank?

David, I have had some plecos die after zucchini also. It has always been the young ones, and I suspect they eat too much. I only feed mine zuke every so often smaller pieces now. Has anyone else experienced this? (Note I used to nuke it in the microwave for a minute or two so it would sink, now I just stick a fork to sink it and I haven't noticed any problems)

I HAVE WELL OVER 500 FRY AND ADULTS HERE AND I HAVE A FEW EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE DIE BUT THATS PART OF NATURE , I KEEP ZUCCHIN IN MY TANKS AT ALL TIMES. if you want your fish to grow thats the only way to get the max growth out of them

KY I was kinda thinking it was just natural selection as well but wasn't sure after someone else mentioned having issues. I am glad to hear it is not the zucchini since it is such a easy food and they love it so much.

Sometimes our fish just die for unknown reasons. I have never had any die from eating zucchini or yellow squash, although I have read that folks have wondered about the seeds in cucumbers getting lodged in their throats. I don't use cucumbers unless I scrape out all the seeds first, just in case.
