I use the Hydor Koralia 4 - 1200GPH powerhead to move water at the surface of my aquarium. I also have 2 eheim aqua balls that do alright, but I was not impressed and I am a huge eheim fan. I have also used powerheads to run sponge filters, but I moved to the diaphragm air blower since I am running so many. Any other experiences are welcome.

I have used the Hydor Koralia 4 and then I tried the maxi-jet mod. With a maxi-jet 1200 and the mod I was moving over 2000 GPH per power head. I had two of them in a 65 gallon reef tank and was turning over 61 times the volume in an hour. It was hard keeping corals in place but they loved it.

I only use 1 powerhead attached to a sponge filter. It is in my frontosa tank. I think it is a 850 gph. But run another 1100 gph filtration.

AC(Aqua Clear) all the way for me!!! I like the quick filter attachment. And knock on wood, they last forever.
