I paint the back of most of my tanks black and I like it, but as an experiment I tried something different on this 30-gallon tank. It's a paint I bought at Lowe's s a few months ago that has a natural rock look to it. In fact, the name of it is something like "Natural Rock" but I don't think that's exactly it. It's fairly expensive with one can, which was enough to do the back and both sides of this 30-gallon tank, costing $8 or $9. Not too bad really even if you wound up buying two cans. It actually looks a natural brown color in the tank, but the picture doesn't quite do it justice. Texture actually looks like it has rock mixed in.

that would be neat for the bottom if not using substrate. would look like it is substrate anyway!

Cool. I like that.. It looks like a good solution but I was wanting more than one color. Maybe a camouflage background for me, but with the same textured look.
