I did a major cleaning and simplification of my 125 frontosa tank a couple nights ago in preparation for our move next month. Took out probably 100 lbs of holey rock and bleached it, and changed to a couple new 5500k (from the 8000k) tubes to try and reduce the dark brown algae I'd been getting.

How long are the fronts going to be out of their tank for your move David? When I did my move, "bucket" aggression is what caused the death of four of my fronts. I had two to three fish per five gallon bucket.

I'm hoping just an hour or two. The new place is only a couple miles away and I plan to have everything out but fish when I move each tank. So, it should just be a matter of saving a few jugs of old water and getting the rest out quick and loading the truck up. I will keep in mind to split them up among two or three buckets (or more). How's it going there? How long are the fronts going to be out of their tank for your move David? When I did my move, "bucket" aggression is what caused the death of four of my fronts. I had two to three fish per five gallon bucket.

Things are going good over here David. Finally got the house in Tennessee sold. A friend brought out the 3' custom sump I had Glass Cages make, so I am now working on installing the sumps. Whenever that gets done I will install the 275 gl IBC tote with the 8' Plexiglas multi compartment tank (used to be in Jon's garage), then I will be down to installing a circulation pump and getting the system on line. The biggest problem has been moving the 125 gl and 240 gl tank(s) by myself.

i'm a big fan of the round rock. it looks natural and you don't have to clean it. cheapest place to get it is the rock quarry in smyrna. you pay by the pound. i think it's like .30 or .40 a pound.

Looks great! With fronts simple is better. Less rock is better, they like open spaces. Just a suggestion, but if you could find a darker substrate to mix in with what you have now, their blue should pop a little more.

Thanks Jon…
And yeah, I plan on changing substrate after the move. Not sure if I'll mix it or just go with something darker all together. Right now, it's pretty nuclear, especially with removing so much of the decor.
Thanks for checking it out!
