Picked up what I believe to be a Acarichthys heckelii from a maintenance customer a couple weeks ago. He seems happy and healthy in his new home, minus me turning the light on and shooting video of him at 7am lol.

Hard to say for sure with it showing a little stress color but it looks to likely be a Geophagus Abalios.

I'm not the best at ID'ing geophagus and the differences are not obvious sometimes. If you want to be certain get ahold of Peathenster. He is much more knowledgable on them then I am.

Cool. I'm terrible at identifying most fish. Lol.
Like to talk to you about the tanks/racks soon.

One of the few New Worlds I have owned is a heckelli, and it was a fish I would like to keep again for sure. I like all the eartheaters because they remind me of malawi peacocks and haps a little bit. Looks like a great pick up.

I had a jurupari for several years and we loved him. Definitely want to get more for the new fish room!

All of the eartheater types are cool fish. Lots of personality and they show interesting behavior to watch.
