Never had a great desire to keep a saltwater tank, but I love looking at them. That looks like a nice one.

He says its easy, but he did have a beautiful mandran goby that has disapeared. I didn't spell madran right, but it is the blue- with green and ten other colors.

We "tried" saltwater.... It was NOT pretty and we lost so much money. We took the live rock back before they died but lost nearly everything else. Freshwater is so much simpler!!

Salt people swear its easier, but I don't buy it either. Theoretically it should be, but if something goes haywire... its over and $$$ is gone. Most freshwater issues can be solved before all is lost.

Yes and if you have small freshwater fish you may lose a few hundred instead of a thousand or more for the same amount of "decoration" per inch so to speak. But ours went south like almost over night and everything was greenish black. The day before all was happy and appeared to be thriving.

We had no idea and never had any interest to try again.

Saltwater is very easy once you get the basics down and know what to keep and what not to keep. There is a lot to learn but nothing that hard. Nice looking corals, clown fish, tang and shrimp.

I agree, there is nothing really hard about saltwater other then the price. That was pretty much all I kept for about a 5 year period. The rock is high, the fish are high, the invertibrates are high, and the equipment is rediculous. The care is nothing more difficult then any other fish that requires you to alter your tap water to meet there needs such as tangs and victorians.

Key word..... HIGH!!! If you are learning, it's too much money to take such a huge risk with, atleast for us. My husband was a student for the first 2/3 of our marriage and now I am. He is still searching for a job to use that ole Vandy education....... GRUMBLES!

Beautiful pics, but the saltwater is a pain. I've got a small tank that I wish was freshwater, but I've got too much time and money invested now. LOL....
