How soon after a betta lays eggs can she do it again? Our bettas spawned but apparently the eggs were not fertilized. How do we know when to put them back together to try again? The male is building his nest again.

Separate the male from the female, so the female and male can not see each another. Feed her bloodworms for a month keeping her jar very clean. She should be ready by then.
When you put them back together, wait until the female is hiding in a corner and the male comes to her and she runs, then separate them. This is assuming you have seen them spawning or you see the eggs in the nest. Eggs hatch in 24 hours at a water temp of 80 degrees. In another two days the fry should be free swimming. At that time remove the male. I use newly hatched brine shrimp for the fry. feed them twice a day and clean the uneaten food after about 6 hours. After 2 weeks I start feeding bloodworms that I chop up with a razor blade, but still feed some brine shrimp for the smaller fry. Don't start raising the water in the fry tank until the fry are at least 1 1/2 to 2 weeks old. Then start raising the water level until the tank is full. let this take about 3 days. Note: The spawn water level should be about 6 inches to start. In one and a half to two months you should be able to start sexing the fry. Keep the males in their own containers. I used 1/2gallon jars cleaning them once or twice a week. The females can be kept together. remember you need to cull. get rid of any deformed or not show quality fish If that is your goal.
If you really get into Bettas. I would recommend joining the IBC. You can get show breeding stock from them. If you go to aquabid. I would not buy from anyone outside the USA. If you need help on what to buy let me know. I was the president of the IBC and also a certified IBC Judge.
Hope this helps

Thanks, Joe it does help. I separated them too soon because she was still laying eggs after I did. I'll take her out of the tank entirely--I have a divider up and they see eachother.
