I'm wondering if there is a particular time of the day when Africans are most likely to spawn. The reason I ask is, over the past few months I've had several fish holding in my 75 gallon Peacock tank (though none actually carried all the way through), but I"ve never seen them spawn. The tank is in my home office where I spend the majority of my waking hours, but still they manage to spawn at a time when I don't see them.
Are they perhaps more likely to spawn in the early morning, first-light hours? Do they spawn at night? I just think it's kind of odd that I've never seen them. Could just be coincidence I guess.

I don't have an answer for you. I have had my fish spawn in the morning, afternoon, night, when the weather changes, when there is a full moon or new moon, when the water temp goes up, when I do a large water change, and on and on. The only thing I can say is they spawn when the female is ready. Joe

The only thing I can think is your fish are either spawning when you're not there, or you just don't see them spawn.
