You did great! But based on the fact that it has blue all over its gill plate looks like you most likely have a lovely young lady too. Jgentry is the one that helped me to figure it out. When he looks he can confirm. She's gorgeous!

Yes, she's very pretty. Oddly enough, all these tough guys are getting along fine in a 45 gallon tank for the moment, but I know they're going to have to be separated out when they get bigger.
On another front, I need some opinions on a problem from you and anyone else who has an idea.....in the first picture especially you can see something filmy looking on the glass with some clear smudges that look almost like fingerprints on the glass. This is not dirt. No matter what I try, it just won't come off. It has gotten much more pronounced in the past few weeks. I scrub and scrub it and it won't budge. It's like a defect in the glass or something, and it is on the inside.
It's a very old tank...more than 20 years and it sat in a basement for most of that time. The thing is, it cleaned up great and looked fine for several months, but this film has started to appear and ruin the looks of it. Any ideas?

Mine gets a filmy coating but does wipe off. I'm not sure what wouldn't outside of calcium and lime deposits, but those are usually where the water will evaporate. Maybe Jon can move this part to a thread in tank setup for discussion-it would be a good one!

Welcome fishme. Your JD is definately a little girl. Good looking group that you got there. Better have another tank ready for the oscar soon though. They grow like a weed. It will be 8 inches in no time.
Very nice fish!!

Welcome, Mike! Glad you're here! I thought at first you might be the guy on CL wanting to sell a huge tank as he was getting out of the hobby after 55 years. I was about to say give me til the 1st and I'll be knocking on your door with a truck! Do you breed Jacks by any chance? We need a male, all of a sudden. I saw that Angel and emailed him this AM. Haven't heard anything back yet. No idea about dimensions or anything. Crossing my fingers, would love to have a 180!

He is in Springfield which is about 90 minutes from us Angel. A friend of mine(co-worker) lives about 10 minutes from him. I gave him half the asking price(down payment) in an envelope and he is going there today and taking pictures of it for me. So it will be living with me. ;D
Dimensions 72"x24"x24" 180 gallons 2 canister filters Custom metal stand books, supplies, etc... Good deal at $400 I think!
I am so happy, its going to take some doing breaking it down and getting it setup again but should look awesome in the kitchen with even more cichlids!
