I had a great time. It was only my second swap. My first was the fall swap last year which was less than spectacular. This one was much much better than that one and had easily 3x the people.
I really enjoyed Mike's presentation on packing and shipping fish because it was something I had very little experience with. Even though I have no plans on ever shipping fish myself it makes me better prepared if I ever order via mail again. I'll know what questions to ask and it gave me a better understanding of everything that goes into the process. You could tell he is really a pro at it and his advice was greatly appreciated.
I feel like I made out like a bandit. I came home with some nice fish and I probably paid 1/3 of what everything would have cost me from a local fish store.
My favorite part was the auction which seemed to me to be a great success. Perhaps we should concentrate more on that aspect next time. Maybe instead of selling, let everything be auction based. Let the seller start the initial bidding price, if no bids, they keep their merchandise. Also let members donate items to the club if they choose. I say this because there were several fish that sold outright that I would have bid on and paid more than the asking price. Isn't this how most other clubs do it?
Anyway, thanks for everyone who came out, helped organize, and put time into this. I'm already looking forward to the next one.
I took some pictures, I'll try to add the to the club's photobucket or some other online location soon.

It was great! long day, but fun. Good job rick, the place was perfect for the event, now we just have to keep getting bigger. I agree with Ryan, if you get a fish sent from Mike Gibbs you have nothing to worry about, and auction was great. Mark was the best auction MC ever, he kept it moving.

How'd you get poison oak at the swap meat, bocaJ? I had a good time as well, and I'm enjoying watching my fish settle into their new home. I've seen all 10 fish (the cichlids that is, I didn't count Jack's guppies), and there's been a bit of lip-lock already... should be interesting to see how the territorial squabbles shake down.

I would like to thank everyone for participating in the Swap. Many thanks to all who donated items for the auction and to everyone who pitched in to make the event a success. I would like to also recognize the members who came from "distance" to support the club!

Had a great time at the meet. Enjoyed meeting everyone and hopefully made some new friends. Of course I bought most of the stuff off the trailer outside and wanted more, but just didn't have room to haul it all home. I do really wish I had of gotten back out there to deal with the older fellow on all the pond stuff. Of course Jermey would have killed me with me trying to stuff all that stuff in his car !! lol !!! Probally most of the stuff I got in those boxes would have been junk to alot of people, but with my set up (130+ tanks) I will wind up using the most of it here. I hate to hear about stores going out of business, but if they do I like to get right in the middle of it. It helps them out getting it gone and I am like a kid in a candy store. I love going through all the boxes of stuff. I do look forward to the next swap meet and plan on bringing things to sell this time. Of course I have several breeding pair of Angels, but I am getting more into the South and Central American Chilids. I like agressive fish with muscle !!! So if anyone is looking for anything like this drop me a note or if you happen to come across any breeders that I do not have please let me know. I do have a few things I am looking for like Red Severum, a mate pair of Red Deviels, a Bright colored breeding pair of Gold Severum, a mated pair of Blue Acara and what ever else mind come along. Hope to see eveyone at the next meet, Tom Tradewatertropical
