Thanks guys for the support and motivation on this one. Yes Rick Im playing with ideas now on how the water will cascade and plantings around the project. Im open to any and all suggestions. I actually bought my first plant for it but it got vetoed by my GF. Its a ponytail palm and i like it because A. it was on sale and B. it had a thick base and looked like a little tree. She said no but who knows we may throw it in there somewhere. here is a pic of it

LoL. Fuzzy, you do realize women win most of the time. I ain't quite sure how that happens, but it does. You gotta get her believing it is her plant and her contribution to the project, especially if this will be in the living part of your home. See, all my fish stuff is under the house in 1/2 of our converted garage, so my wife sees none of it, nor does she want to. I have not one tank in the house. We agreed to this years and years ago.

I was also thinking of some vineing type bog plants. I have several around my pond and it's waterfall. I will have to come up with some of the plant names for you. Don't know a one right now. I would have plenty to share come Spring, if you find yourself in need of some by our Spring swap/meet. Just remind me later.

Were do you come up with your signatures Fuzzy lol. lol im pretty random quick question. Does anyone have any experience with wet dry filter systems, fluidized bed filter systems, versus typical sump setups. I've been thinking outside of the box this morning on my filtration. Also any recommendations on possible breeding pair stocking for my top tank. I personally want something on the rare side, freshwater, and not a tang

Wet/Dry pretty much means that you are using bio-balls or some type of bio media for the water to trickle over in the sump itself. A mechanical pad can also be a part of this. Most sumps in the freshwater world could be called wet/dry IMO because you need both the bio balls and pad/sponge for filtration. Whereas in the reef world, the bio balls are often removed because they build up more nitrates than they remove and the live rock above in the main tank is doing the job of the bio balls many times more effectively. This is also where a protein skimmer in the reef world is much more of a necessity than bio balls, and it can be placed in the sump. I have less experience with fluidized bed filters. Here's some good/simple info... www.firsttankguide.net/fluidized.php

The weather is still being uncooperative for me to finish my cuts for my supports outside. Im rip roaring to go with my project and plan on making some huge progress by this weekend. I did buy more possible plant selections though.
