What I am attempting to do should be left to the pro's, or people that don't know any better. I found a 2" crack in one of my 50gL I got from"GLASS CAGES" This is the second crack in in a worse spot than the first on this tank. Never attempt to do what I am about to try unless you want to ruin some stuff. Crack Some would say the way I fixed it will never work, but lets cross our fingers. I bet your asking yourself, "He didn't just silicone the whole back of that aquarium?" My answer would be yes, yes I did. The amount of work it would take to do anything else made me say the heck with it! I'll be the lab rat. Wish me luck because I for see leaks in my future.

Jon,
be careful, just using silicon may cause the crack to spread and cause the tank to burst.
That has to be the worse company in the business.

I'm ready for that Joe, I am going to move most of the fish out of it and see if it will last until I can get another one.

And I agree- they are horrible all the way around- from service to quality to warranty.

Just to keep everyone updated the cracked increased by a half inch today. I just found out I can take tomorrow and Friday off so I will have 5 days to keep an eye on it.

That stinks Jon. I've seen small tanks patched that way but there's a lot more pressure on a 50g tank. If the crack already increased it is probably going to split out. Not sure were I'm going to get my tanks for my room yet. But you guys have completely convinced me to not buy them at glasscages. I'll see if Chris at the critter will give me a decent price.

I would check with Petsmart. If you order 10 or more tanks(maybe even 5) they might knock off 20%. They have 40g breeders and 20gL there. That's what I would go with if I where you. If you need a couple bigger tanks, I would get them from Chris at the Critter. I have dropped a All-Glass tank before and it didn't crack. I banged my 125g Perfecto and it didn't break. I put my glass cages tank on level garage floor with no water in it and it cracked. My other two glass cages tanks cracked 1) The second day of holding water the length of the bottom, and 2) This crack @ a 45 degree angle from the corner without reason. Glass cages has a 90 day seam warranty that won't cover a crack in the glass even for the 90 days. It could crack on the car ride home and your out all that money. Good luck, and I might be ordering some 20gL's in the near future so maybe we can combine our order and get a couple more orders through the site and make a group buy.

We'd probably want a couple more 20GL. They work great for so many things. PetSmart has a sale going for I think $25 for a 20GL. We bought two there recently.

If we get a good order going, they better come down to $20 or we will go to Petco.

I know this isn't good for you, but it certainly helped me considering I was just about to buy from glass cages!!
